The Ronnie “Uncle Buck” Memorial .90 Nationals presented by Nitroplate was created with the NHRA and IHRA sportsman class racers’ perspective in mind. This event offers competitors the opportunity to compete over the course of one quick-paced weekend for huge payouts and multiple awards.

The brainchild of Super Gas Racer Rob Keister, the 90 Nationals was formed in February of 2011. The original event was to be held on August 25th & 26th, 2011 but, with a hurricane looming on the outer banks of the Eastern Seaboard Keister quickly pulled the plug and rescheduled the event till later on in the season. Unfortunately Mother Nature once again threw a curveball at Keister as the Uni-Select Auto Parts Nationals was delayed and moved to one week later which was on top of the rescheduled event.

With his positive attitude still intact Keister decided to start from scratch in 2012 and set the date of June 8th & 9th, 2012. Over 200 plus cars showed up for the inaugural event that featured a free test and tune, a Top 32 shootout on Friday Evening and the Inaugural .90 Nationals on Saturday. To top off the great line of events Keister, along with George and Linda Donhauser (and friends), put on a free BBQ for all the racers and their families to enjoy after the event was over. The Nitroplate Stock/Super Stock Shootout presented by Autometer was created with the NHRA and IHRA sportsman racers’ perspective in mind. This event offers competitors the opportunity to compete over the course of one quick-paced weekend for huge payouts and multiple awards. The Nitroplate Stock / Super Stock Shootout presented by Autometer is the offspring of the Combo in the Hills event that was held at Numidia Dragway in 2011 & 2012.

The Original event was held on Mother’s Day weekend in 2011 with a purse of over $10,000 going out to the winner of the event. In the end Canadian Brian Clayton took down Ray Thurston in the finals to bring the check home to the great white north. In 2012 the event was combined with the Ronnie “Uncle Buck” Memorial .90 Nationals that was held on June 8th & 9th. With a special CIC race held on Friday Evening and the 2nd annual Combo in the Hills event being held on Saturday the event was sure to offer close competition for all racers. In the end it was local resident Bryan & Byron Worner talking home the victory in both events.

For 2013 the event changes hands as .90 Nationals promoter Rob Keister takes over the Stock / Super Stock portion of the event. Read more...
